Unnutu

(MUL) unnutu is an ancient Mesopotamian asterism.

"Dim star." [G. 156]; (1) unnutu, a term used to describe the faintness (dimness) of stars, planets, or the Moon in astrological and observational texts [AHw, 1421b, unnutu; BPO 2, 18]; (2) according to von Zoden, the word unnutu was also used as a term to describe the flattening phenomena of the Moon's disk when it appeared on the horizon line(?) [AHw, 218, enētu D].

     (4) The dimness of the moon; DIŠ 30 ina IGI.LAL-šu₂ un-nu-ut-ma / ma-am-ma la u₂-ma-an-di-šu₂ / A.AN ŠUR-nun "If the moon is very dim, during its appearance, that no one can distinguish it: it will rain" [ARAK, 393: 1-3].
