SIG7


mulSIG7 (𒀯𒅊) is an ancient Mesopotamian asterism.

= (mul)(w)arqu "Yellow-green (yellow, green) star";

  • (1) List of Mars names: mulsig7 = dmin(= dṣal-bat-a-nu) " Green-yellow (star) = Mars";
  • (2) ulsig7 = ddumu.zi "Green-yellow (star) = Dumuzi";
  • (3) ulsig7 = an.mi "Green-yellow (star) = eclipse" [Mesop.Astrol.[7], App. B:87, 171, 173].

         In the fragment K. 7646:4 of the "Great Star List and Miscellenia," the corresponding sign appears as [mu]lGEŠTIN [CT[8] 29, 47]; hence the reading and translation mul / ulGEŠTIN = mulkarānu "Wine Star," accepted in [HBA, 9, 10], now rejected, see [HBA[9], 9, 10].
