Eriqqu, 'the Wagon,' is the standard name for the Big Dipper in Akkadian (= Sumerian mulMAR.GID2.DA.). In the same manner, Eriqqu šamê, 'Wagon of Heaven' is the standard name for the Little Dipper (= Sumerian mulMAR.GID2.DA.AN.NA). See Horowitz 1989.
