planet Venus next to the Pleiades; it is clearly visible in the photograph that rays and "horns" depend on the brightness of the source (Venus has them in a dirty atmosphere, the stars don't), photographs by Susanne M Hoffmann April 2020.

mulGILIM.MA is an ancient Mesopotamain planet name. The literal translation might be "a bunch of reeds", which may be a metaphor for rays around bright dots sources in a gloomy atmosphere (due to dust or humidity). The brighter the source, the better the rays become visible. The cause of the rays is are the muscles in the human eye that hold the lens; so the number of rays are seen differently by different observers.
