MUL.MUL.LA (𒀯𒀯𒆷) is an ancient Mesopotamian asterism.
Concordance, Etymology, History
Kurtik with Hilder, Hoffmann, Horowitz, Kim
= mulmullu(?) "arrow." [AHw[1], 671a; CAD[2] M/2, 190-191; Gössmann[3] 278]. Identity: mu-ulmul = mul-mul-lum in the lexical series Aa II/6 ii 37 [MSL XIV[4], 291]. The name occurs only in the astrological list of stars VR 46, 1:26. mul.mul.la gištukul ša2 šuII damar.utu "Arrow, weapon, which in the hands of Marduk," see also [HBA[5], 52; Wee 2016[6], 162-3]. According to Schaumberger, it is the constellation MUL.MUL "Star Cluster" (Pleiades) [3. Erg., 336].
