Previously read mulmullu(?) "arrow." [AHw[1], 671a; CAD[2] M/2, 190-191; Gössmann[3] 278].

Identity:

mu-ulmul = mul-mul-lum in the lexical series Aa II/6 ii 37 [MSL XIV[4], 291].

The name occurs only in the astrological list of stars VR 46, 1:26. mul.mul.la gištukul ša2 šuII damar.utu "Arrow, weapon, which in the hands of Marduk," see also [HBA[5], 52; Wee 2016[6], 162-3].

A commentary on the term mulmullu, a term for arrows (as in bows and arrows) in a hunting context in the Babylonian Theodicy line 60 (Lambert 1960: 74-75) makes an identification of this asterism name with those for Sirius: mul.mul šil-tah (for šiltahu, Akkadian for mulkak.si.sá). Previously Schaumberger took this as a Akkadian loan-word from Sumerian MUL.MUL "Star Cluster" (Pleiades) [3. Erg., 336].
