LI9.SI4

^{mul / d}LI₉.SI₄ (𒀯𒉈𒋜) is the deity associated with the star Antares in Scorpio. The reading LI₉.SI₄ is assured by the gloss li-si in SAA 10 81: 2, a fragment which makes mention of Sirius, Antares, Vega, and the planet Mercury: ^mulLI₉.SI₄ = li-si.

But SAA 10 81 = supposedly = K1409 (now joined to K 796? (I can't read the last number on the fragment's photo in P334913) = ABL 1449 - we need to try to figure this out

II. Deity.

         The Fox deity is known from the time of the 3rd dynasty of Ur and was originally venerated as the Fox goddess [Michalowski 1987; Sallaberger 1993, Bd. I, 254]. The name Fox is present in early lists of gods [Weidner 1924-25, 10:7], but in AN:^dAnum (II 70) it is a male deity. Fox apparently acquired astral significance not earlier than the 1st millennium B.C. and as a star was always considered a male deity. For prayers to the Fox in MUL.APIN, see above. In the list of the 12 city gods of Babylon(?) ^dli₉.si₄ is given in the last place [Livingstone 1986, 54:5].
