planet Venus next to the Pleiades; it is clearly visible in the photograph that rays and "horns" depend on the brightness of the source (Venus has them in a dirty atmosphere, the stars don't), photographs by Susanne M Hoffmann April 2020.

mulGILIM.MA is an ancient Mesopotamain planet name. The literal translation might be "a bunch of reeds", which may be a metaphor for rays around bright dots sources in a gloomy atmosphere (due to dust or humidity). The cause of the rays is are the muscles in the human eye that hold the lens; so the number of rays are seen differently by different observers.
