NIN.GIRIM3
NIN.GIRIM3
I need to look at this back in Jerusalem???
mulNIN.GIRIM3 (𒀯𒊩𒌆𒀀𒄩𒋻𒁺) is the astral manifestation of the goddess of the same name. The star-name occurs just the once, in the Great Star List, there identfied with the goddess Išhara who is identified in the Astrolabe tradition and elsewhere with 'The Scorpion' (Scorpio) (Horowitz 2014: 112). There is no clear evidence for an identification of Ningirim with Venus as had been previously suggested????

check to see if any of the bibliography below identified Ningirim with Venus and if so - why???

II. Deity.
Ningirim is an ancient Sumerian goddess whose name has been known since the time of Fara (XXVI century B.C.) [Krebernik 1984[8], 233 ff.; 2000a, 363]. In divine genealogies, she is characterized ambiguously: as the daughter or sister of Enlil, as the daughter of Ninurta or Enki, as the sister of the deity of "holy water" [ibid.] Among her epithets are bēlet šipti "Lady of the spell," bēlet tēlilti "Lady of purification," egi-zi-gal-an-na "Great, righteous Lady of the sky" [ibid., 241-242, 255]. Originally associated with water, fish, and the serpent deity Irhan [ibid.]. In the Old Akkadian period there was a temple dedicated to her [TCS 3[9], no. 19]. See also [Lambert 2013[3], 431-432].
