Perwana

Perwana is an IAU name for an exoplanet. Its host star is Shama in the constellation of Leo. Suggested by the country of Pakistan, it follows the name theme Symbolic terms associated with affinity and dedication in Urdu literature of Pakistan.

Etymology and History

Perwana means moth in Urdu, alluding to the eternal love of an object circling the source of light (the lamp).

IAU Working Group on Star Names

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN in the 20xx NameExoWorlds Campaign (NEWC).
