Mira

Mira is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Latin. It is the name of HIP10826 (ο Cet, HR 681) in constellation Cet.
Etymology and History
Its Latin name since Renaissance times meaning "the Amazing One", as taken from Historiola Mirae Stellae - the title of a work describing the amazing variability of this star (written by Hevelius in 1662).

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN on 2016/06/30.
