Levantes

Levantes is an IAU name for an exoplanet. Its host star is Aiolos in the constellation of Carina. Suggested by the country of Greece, it follows the name theme Greek Names related to winds, especially from Homer’s Odyssey and from the poem "The Axion Esti" (1959) by Greek poet Odysseas Elytis (1911-1996; winner of 1979 Nobel Prize for Literature).

Etymology and History

Levantes (Λεβάντες) is a name adopted in modern Greek for easterly Mediterranean winds. The name appears in the poem "To Axion Esti" by 20th-century Greek poet Odysseas Elytis.
