Astrolábos

Astrolábos is an IAU name for an exoplanet. Its host star is Gnomon in the constellation of Sextans. Suggested by the country of Romania, it follows the name theme Names of ancient astronomical instruments, especially for navigation.

Etymology and History

Astrolábos (ἀστρολάβος) is the Greek word for astrolabe, an ancient astronomical instrument capable of measuring altitude, identifying stars or planets, determining latitude, etc.

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN in the 20xx NameExoWorlds Campaign (NEWC).
