Aegir

AEgir is an IAU name for an exoplanet. Its host star is Ran in the constellation of Eridanus. Suggested by the country of USA, it follows the name theme NEWC 2015

Etymology and History

AEgir is Ran's husband, the personified god of the ocean. “AEgir” and “Ran” both represent the “Jotuns” who reign in the outer Universe; together they had nine daughters. (Note 3) 

IAU Working Group on Star Names

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN in the 20xx NameExoWorlds Campaign (NEWC).
