Rotanev is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Latin. It is the name of HIP 101769 (β Del, HR 7882) in constellation Del.

Reverse of the surname of Nicolaus Venator, responsible for 1814 star catalogue.
