Mimosa is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Latin. It is the name of HIP 62434 (β Cru, HR 4853) in constellation Cru.

Etymology and History

Applied in recent times, and of unknown astronomical significance. It is from the Latin word mimus, "an actor", and is otherwise known as the genus name for certain tropical plants.
