Etymology and History
Origin of Constellation
The name "Musca" occurs first in Hevelius (1690) which can easily be confused with the (modern) constellation Musca next the Southern Cross (Crux). It was distinguished in other atlasses by adding the specifier "Borealis". Some even named it "Apis", The Bee, instead of the Fly.
