Iklil

Iklil is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP78104 (ρ Sco, HR 5928) in constellation Sco.

Etymology and History

the name derives from the Arabic lunar mansion "Iklil" (Arabic: الإكليل), "The ornamented headband" (or: diadem) composed of the 3 stars β1, δ and π Sco; here misapplied to ρ Sco.

IAU Working Group on Star Names

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN on 2017/09/05.
