Hamal

Hamal is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP9884 (α Ari, HR 617) in constellation Ari.
Etymology and History
Applied in recent times from the Arabic constellation name, al-hamal, "the Lamb", for Aries. al-hamal seems to belong to those zodiacal constellation names already known in Arabic times.

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN on 2016/07/20.
