Saffar

Saffar  is an IAU name for an exoplanet. Its host star is Titawin in the constellation of Andromeda. Suggested by the country of Morocco, it follows the name theme NEWC 2015

Etymology and History

Saffar is named for Abu al-Qasim Ahmed Ibn-Abd Allah Ibn-Omar al Ghafiqi Ibn-al-Saffar, who taught arithmetic, geometry, and astronomy in 11th century Cordova in Andalusia (modern Spain), and wrote an influential treatise on the uses of the astrolabe. 

IAU Working Group on Star Names

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN in the 20xx NameExoWorlds Campaign (NEWC).
