Ġgantija

Ġgantija is an IAU name for an exoplanet. Its host star is Sansuna in the constellation of Sagitta. Suggested by the country of Malta, it follows the name theme Names associated with the megalithic temples of Ġgantija on the island of Gozo, Malta, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Etymology and History

Ġgantija means giantess: the megalithic temple complex on the island of Gozo, which alludes to the grandeur of this gas giant exoplanet.

IAU Working Group on Star Names

The name was adopted by the IAU WGSN in the 20xx NameExoWorlds Campaign (NEWC).
