The name "Musca" occurs first in Hevelius (1690) which can easily be confused with the (modern) constellation [[Musca]] next the Southern Cross ([[Crux]]). It was distinguished in other atlasses by adding the specifier "Borealis". Some even named it "Apis", The Bee, instead of the Fly. |

Apis or Musca Borealis is an obsolete constellation in Aries that was used in Early Modern Europe.
Etymology and History
Origin of Constellation
The name "Musca" occurs first in Hevelius (1690) which can easily be confused with the (modern) constellation Musca next the Southern Cross (Crux). It was distinguished in other atlasses by adding the specifier "Borealis". Some even named it "Apis", The Bee, instead of the Fly.
