'The Furnace' is probably to be identified with the star Vega, the brightest star in the constellation Lyra. ((look for shape of furnaces in Mes.??). The mythological basis of the name "Widow's Furnace" is unclear. ??The identification with the goddess Gula also probably implies the female gender of the constellation. An identification with Vega is supported by the fact that the epithet . . . . In favor of this assumption is the fact that the same epithet was applied to Vega, which was part of the constellation dGu-la, in the lists of ziqpu-stars: mulGAŠAN.TIN = bēlet balāṭi "Lady of Life" [Schaumberger 1952, 226:24; 228:VII; BPO 2, 36-37, Parallels II 7]. This has to be checked????
