Summary

MUL.APIN I iv 28 states that the Swallow rises and the Standing Gods are in the middle of the sky. During the start of the rising of the Swallow, the constellation of Gula is in the middle of the sky and when the rising ends, there is U.KA.DU8.A. These two deities and their entourage were excluded from the Ekur (and, thus, the Standing Gods) in the Path of Enlil in the first list of MUL.APIN. Thus, it seems that the scribe of the ziqpu-list inverted (or completely misunderstood) the meaning of the The Standing Gods. They are not in the middle of the sky, and their circle is in large parts set (invisible) during the rising of the Swallow.
