Marsic is a modern star name adopted by the International Astronomical Union in the IAU-Catalog of Star Names (IAU-CSN). Its origin is Arabic. It is the name of HIP79043 (κ Her, HR 6008) in constellation Her.

Applied in medieval times from the Arabic word al-marfiq, "the elbow," used in the Arabic Almagest in describing this star.
